Product Details

GUNLIME® is a natural hydraulic lime mortar specifically engineered to flow through a modern mortar gun. The gun can be manually operated by hand or pneumatically powered. It is suitable for conservation use and is a CE certified product.

Lime mortars typically cannot flow through modern pointing guns due to the particle size of the aggregates and the sepearation of the lime with wetter mortars.

GUNLIME® has been developed over many years to solve these problems. We're excited to offer this heritage product in range of colours and textures.

Mixing the mortar is really simple. The hydraulic lime is separated from the aggregate inside the tub in a high tensile bag. All you need to do is empty contents of the bag into a mixer, add clean water and mix the materials to the correct consistency. A standard drum type cement mixer is fine for mixing GUNLIME®. You can also mix by hand of course if you prefer.

Lime mortars from Conserv come complete with clear, concise instructions and free technical support. You can call us any time for friendly, expert help and advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is hydraulic lime mortar?

Its a traditional lime mortar, it does not contain cement but is mixed and applied the same way as a cement mortar. This makes it practical for modern construction. It has the ability to set underwater, hence the name hydraulic.

Do I need to add cement to make it set?

Absolutely not, hydraulic lime sets just fine. It is often confused with hydrated lime which can be added to cement mortar to increase workability. Genuine traditional lime mortars do not contain cement, ever.

Did You Know?

In practical terms, mixing and working hydraulic lime mortar is just like using an OPC mortar.

Shrinkage cracks are virtually eliminated using hydraulic lime mortar due to its hydraulic set.

Major labour and time saving benefits of hydraulic lime mortar can offset the higher cost against the non-hydraulic mortar.

You can safely repair non-hydraulic with hydraulic lime mortar. They are compatible and co-exist quite happily.
